5. Malaysian Investment
Development Authority
(MIDA): MIDA is the Malaysian Government’s Principal Agency for the
promotion of investment in the manufacturing and services sectors in Malaysia. It is a
statutory
body established in 1967 under MIDA Act. MIDA assists companies which intend to invest
in the
manufacturing and services sectors as well as facilitates the implementation of their
projects. It
provides information on the opportunities for investments and facilitates companies
which are
looking for joint venture partners. Senior representatives from key government agencies
such as the
Department of Labour, Immigration Department, Royal Malaysian Customs, Department of
Environment,
Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Telekom Malaysia Berhad are also stationed at MIDA’s
headquarters
