Relaxations on Tourist Visas for India

1. To further facilitate ease of travel to India, Government of India has decided to relax its visa regime for international tourists visiting India. Foreign nationals have so far been allowed to visit India in all other visa categories except Tourist Visa.

2. Travel to India for tourism purposes would be permissible only on Fresh Tourist Visas/e-Tourist Visas as detailed below. It may please be noted that all previously issued Tourist Visas or e-Tourist Visas shall continue to remain suspended.

(i) Fresh Tourist visas/e-Tourist Visas will be allowed for foreign nationals visiting India through chartered flights (group tourism only) with effect from 15 October 2021.

(ii) Foreign tourists entering into India by flights (including Vande Bharat Mission flights currently operating between India and Malaysia) other than chartered aircrafts can do so with effect from November 15, 2021 by applying for fresh Tourist Visas/e-Tourist Visas.

3. All due protocols and norms relating to COVID-19 as notified from time to time, by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, shall be adhered to by the foreign tourists and flight operators bringing them into India, and all other stakeholders at landing stations.
